Did you know that a pashmina is a fantastically versatile and wearable accessory that’s both practical and stylish? We’ve compiled a list of some of the most common ways to wear a pashmina to give you some scarf-spiration:
In order to wear your pashmina in this style, it should be folded in half and wrapped behind the back of the neck. The loose ends from one side of the pashmina should be pulled through the loop end on the other side – this is called the European knot. It’s up to you whether you leave the tie-off loose or tighten it up, it’s really just a personal preference and there is no “right” or “wrong” way to do this.
This style is definitely the most common way to wear a pashmina wrap – and will probably be the style you’d most commonly associate with a pashmina. In a classic wrap, the shawl is wrapped loosely around the shoulders with the ends draped towards the back. This timeless and stylish look can be worn over an evening dress to stay warm without ruining and outfit or dealing with a cumbersome winter coat, or to add elegance to a more casual look with jeans and boots. Either way, it’s a really simple style and will keep you warm whatever you’re wearing.
For extra warmth in winter, you can wear a shawl wrap around the outside of your coat. As well as adding and extra layer of warmth, it also lets you change up your look and jazz up a boring winter coat that everyone’s seen before.
Experiment with folding your pashmina lengthwise three or four times. Wrap it around your neck once or twice and let the ends hang down. You can also tie the ends together for added security.
Another unique idea is to wear a pashmina scarf as a head wrap. Wear it as a headband with the long ends running down your back or wrap it completely around your head, creating a truly dramatic look.
A pashmina wrap can also be worn as a sarong wrap over the hips. The pashmina should be wrapped around the hip and thigh area and tied off above one hip. This sarong-style look can be worn with a pair of slim-cut trousers, leggings or jeans or a skirt underneath.
