Royal Wedding Watch

It’s been almost 6 years since the last Royal Wedding raised the style stakes where we saw Kate Middleton in her beautiful Alexander McQueen gown and her sister Pippa caused a stir in that bridesmaid’s dress.

With the impending nuptials of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on the way, all eyes are on the bride as everyone waits to see who will design her soon-to-be-famous dress, and whether she’ll go for a British or Canadian designer (or something else entirely).

As someone who’s regularly seen in beautiful, luxurious wool scarves and is obviously a bit of a scarf-fan, we’re wondering if Meghan will incorporate a wedding pashmina or other accessory into her wedding look. Lots of brides wear them as they’re stylish, adaptable and, most importantly, keep you warm when you’re stood in a cold church, hanging around outside for photographs or spending time outside during your wedding reception.

Wedding-watchers are predicting less formality at Harry and Meghan’s wedding that at previous royal ceremonies, but it is a Royal Wedding after all so there will still be a certain level of etiquette and tradition at play. For example, there has been speculation about whether Meghan will wear a tiara, which tends to be the “done thing” at royal events or if she’ll go tiara-less, which is a popular trend amongst American brides. She’ll have a real variety of tiaras available if she does go to decide to go for it as the royal vault contains several beautiful options!

Another such tradition that we saw at Will and Kate’s wedding is that most women should wear a hat, and most of the female guests at their wedding actually did. However, Samantha Cameron – wife of then-Prime Minister David – chose to buck the trend and opt for no hat, but accessorised her Burberry dress (which promptly sold out online) with a tangerine pashmina for the wedding. Perfect for keeping out the chill at Westminster Abbey!

At Carr & Burhill, we offer a range of beautiful and elegant wedding pashminas that are certainly fit for royalty, in a range of different styles and colours. So if you’re looking to purchase your perfect pashmina for a wedding or event, take a look at our range – we can even offer bulk orders if you want to give your wedding guests, the mother of the bride or your bridal party a really special favour from your big day!
